Sewer Line Plumbing

An integral part of every building, the drain, waste, vent system (DWV) is composed of large-diameter pipes that run alongside the water supply lines. Wastewater leaves your home and is carried to the main sewer line, which then transports it to a septic tank or to a sewage facility.

Drain and waste pipes are angled downward, allowing the force of gravity to pull waste toward the sewer line.

Sewer lines tilt downwards, because they are also guided by gravity. The main sewer line can of course leak or clog up. You can usually detect these typical sewer line problems by their foul smell. If your sewer pipes are lined with PVC lining, there is less chance of leakage.

Tree roots can grow into sewer pipes and block the sewer line. To fix the problem yourself, try flushing out the blockage with a garden hose. For ongoing difficulties, consider requesting assistance from your Las Vegas Plumber. A power auger, for instance, will do the trick nicely. To keep the roots from growing back, you may use chemical solutions like copper sulfate, but consult your Las Vegas Plumber before placing anything inside the sewer line.
