Toilet
One of the most frequently used plumbing fixtures in the home is the toilet. Most homes have multiple toilets. Many plumbing problems that require immediate attention are caused by its frequent use. Providing you the highest level of plumbing services, your expert Las Vegas plumber can assist you with any of your toilet related problems, as well as offer you tips for do-it-yourself plumbing.
First, it's quite helpful to familiarize yourself with the operation of your toilet, with the way it functions and with the components which make up this device. A chain is pulled up when you push the toilet handle; this opens the flush valve in the tank. The valve is released, revealing a small drain that quickly filters about 2 gallons of water into the toilet bowl. After the tank is empty, the flush valve moves back into its previous position, awaiting the next flush.
The combination of the rapid flow and large amount of water activate a siphon within the bowl, which sends both the water and waste down the drain. The filler float sinks as the water level in the tank diminishes. As the water level goes down, it triggers the refill valve. The refill valve fills the tank and bowl with water. The refill valve is turned off when the tank is completely refilled, and the float rises to the correct level. If the refill valve fails to shut off, flooding is stopped by the presence of an overflow tube inside the tank.
Working together, these various devices allow your toilet to function properly.
But as we all know, problems do occur. Debris, blockage, or backflow are just a few examples of toilet malfunctions. Your Las Vegas Plumber will either assist you directly at your house, or will give you helpful do-it-yourself toilet repair instructions over the phone.
You may be surprised at how simple some plumbing projects can be; for example, you can easily replace or install a toilet yourself. The first step is to locate the valve next to the toilet. Shut it off in order to disconnect the water supply during your project. Detach the water line from the tank, and then connect a brand new line to the new tank you will be using. Before removing the old tank and old bowl, it is wise to empty them. Make good use of your wrench and remove all of the old nuts and bolts. You will be fastening new ones to your new toilet's corresponding parts.
If you need any more help or suggestions on completing a toilet repair, be sure to contact your Las Vegas Plumber. We will be happy to give you some guidance.
